Garish fanny packs gape,
Sticky-hands gander
At furred abnormality.
Indifferent primitive beasts.
Scopophilic spectacles:
Sleekly-pliable bill
Lumbering quilted tail
Sprightly taloned toes.
Creeping through brush,
Thorny quest to Tasmania.
Stoic pink underbelly
Gathers used bubble gum.
Kitsch Kookaburras,
Dotted puce petals.
Artificial and empty as
Savage jungle shrieks.
Sighing, heaving girth
Slips heavily under the
Faded bird shit stained sign:
“Andy, the Adored Platypus”
Unique (for a freak)
Spats coarse thinning lips,
Jiggling a close-set eyed
Version of a bleak tomorrow.
Cameras swing loosely
From sun burnt necks.
Forgetting, perspiring,
Kids still gotta see the elephant.
