Assistant Professor of English

My
areas of interest include composition and rhetoric as well as 20th-century
American literature and American autobiography. Over the years, I have taught
Introduction to College Writing, Professional Writing, Academic Argumentation,
Creative Nonfiction, and American autobiography, as well as a graduate-level
course that prepares graduate students to teach composition.
My research focuses on college students' extracurricular literacy practices,
particularly those that occur within digital spaces. My dissertation, for
example, describes the literacy and social practices of college students who
write fan fiction for the television show House, M.D.
