EXCRETORY, REPRODUCTIVE, AND

ENDOCRINE  SYSTEMS

After completing this laboratory you should be able to:

 

1)   Describe in general terms the development of the urogenital system in each of the vertebrate classes;

 

2)   Identify each of the specific urogenital structures in the list below;

 

3)   Localize and identify (if visible) each of the endocrine glands in the list below;

 

4)   Understand the major endocrine functions, hormones, and target organs of each endocrine gland.

 


 

I.  EXCRETORY AND REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEMS

 

1)  Work through Z&K exercise #9, involving the urogenital systems of the shark, mudpuppy and cat. 

 

2)   Be able to identify the structures on the list below.

II.  ENDOCRINE SYSTEM

 

1)   Work through the handout exercise (C&R) on gross anatomy of endocrine organs in the cat, shark, and salamander.

 

2)   Be able to identify the endocrine organs of the shark, salamander, and cat in the list below.

        thymus 

        adrenals

        pancreas (Islets of Langerhans)
